Prime Video's Comic-Con Slate Has Room for Rings of Power and Reacher — but No Stargate, as #SaveStargate Flies Overhead

Prime Video is back at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend with a full slate of panels — and no Stargate on it. Amazon MGM Studios' official 2026 Comic-Con announcement lists a Friday, July 24 Hall H presentation for Blade Runner 2099 and Season Three of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, plus Saturday, July 25 Ballroom 20 panels for Reacher Season Four and its spin-off Neagley, and Mike Flanagan's Carrie. There is no panel, screening, or announcement for Stargate anywhere in the lineup.

The omission is conspicuous because Stargate has a loud presence at the same convention this weekend — just not from the studio. The fan-led #SaveStargate campaign is flying a banner over the San Diego Convention Center on Friday, July 24 from 11am to 1pm, according to the San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog, followed by a rooftop "Happy Hour" gathering at Bay City Brewery from 6pm to 9pm, with no badge required. On Saturday, July 25, the campaign is running a fandom-wide "#SaveStargate Day," asking fans and creators to flood social media with positive Stargate content.

The campaign began after Amazon MGM canceled its planned Stargate revival — developed by Atlantis veteran Martin Gero, with franchise figures Brad Wright and Joseph Mallozzi attached — in early June, reportedly out of concern the show would not appeal broadly beyond the existing fanbase. Since then fans have organized a banner flyover over Amazon MGM's Culver City lot, a Times Square billboard, an international rally, and a Change.org petition that has now passed 110,000 verified signatures, with organizers saying the total is nearing 115,000. A number of franchise actors, including Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, Robert Patrick, David Hewlett, Rachel Luttrell and Joe Flanigan, have publicly backed the effort.

Amazon has not issued a public statement addressing the petition or the demonstrations, and its Comic-Con programming this weekend makes no mention of the franchise. The studio has previously indicated it remains interested in developing Stargate in some form, just not Gero's version. For now, the only Stargate on display at Comic-Con is the one fans are putting there themselves.
