#SaveStargate's Next Stop Is July 18 as the Campaign Lines Up an International Day of Action
The fan campaign to revive Amazon MGM's cancelled Stargate series is lining up its next move: an international day of action set for Saturday, July 18. The #SaveStargate campaign's official events calendar now lists the “International” event with RSVPs open, slotting it between the U.S.-focused actions the campaign has already completed and a larger “World” push planned for later in the month.
The July 18 rally continues a summer of escalating activity. Organizers flew a banner reading “#SaveStargate. Fans Want Martin Gero” over Amazon MGM's Culver City studios on June 16, then put billboards up in New York's Times Square on June 27. The campaign's calendar also teases a “World” day of action on July 25 and an as-yet-unexplained “Space” event pencilled in for August, currently marked only as “Classified.”
The push follows Amazon MGM Studios' early-June decision to scrap the new Stargate series developed by franchise veteran Martin Gero, with Brad Wright and Joseph Mallozzi attached as consulting producers. The project had reportedly spent roughly 20 weeks in development before it was shelved, with trade reports citing studio concerns that the show would appeal mainly to the existing fanbase. Fans have countered with a petition backing Gero's series that the campaign says has passed 97,000 signatures.
Organizers are inviting supporters to RSVP through the campaign's website and to take part online if they can't attend in person — sharing the petition, posting under the #SaveStargate hashtag, and streaming Stargate on legal platforms to demonstrate ongoing demand. As campaign organizer James Kerfoot put it around the Times Square action, “Times Square is just the next stop, not the last one.”
