Michael Shanks's Stargate Podcast Has a Name — "A Full Circle" — and a Launch Date: October 17
The Stargate SG-1 retrospective podcast that Michael Shanks and Dial the Gate host David Read announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July now has a title and a start date. The show will be called A Full Circle, and it is set to begin on Friday, October 17, according to a report from French fan site Stargate-Fusion, which cites the hosts' latest update video. The name was chosen from more than 150 fan suggestions and nods to the SG-1 season six episode "Full Circle", as well as to the podcast's aim of eventually covering the whole franchise.
Per that report, the launch will be a live introductory episode at 7pm Paris time in which Read interviews Shanks. The regular episodes that follow will be pre-recorded debriefs of individual episodes rather than live watch-alongs, running roughly an hour each, covering the plot, production, cast and crew of each instalment with recurring guests from the show's cast and crew. The first proper episode will tackle the SG-1 pilot, "Children of the Gods", and is expected to reach Patreon supporters on October 17 and then go free on the podcast's YouTube channel three days later.
Shanks and Read have said that if the podcast finds an audience, they intend to continue through the SG-1 TV movies and then into Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe — series Shanks has said he has never watched in full, so he would be discovering them alongside listeners. Patreon members will be able to submit questions ahead of each recording. The podcast's official Patreon page describes the show as featuring Stargate episode reviews, interviews and behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the franchise.
GateWorld first reported the podcast in July, when it was revealed at the #SaveStargate fan event at Comic-Con with a mid-October target. That target now has a specific date.
