Michael Shanks to Host a Stargate SG-1 Rewatch Podcast, Revealed at Comic-Con
Michael Shanks — Daniel Jackson across the run of Stargate SG-1 — is launching a new Stargate podcast, an announcement he made during the #SaveStargate fan campaign's presence at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend of July 25. It would mark the first time an original SG-1 cast member has fronted a full rewatch series for the franchise.
According to GateWorld, the show is a retrospective built around Stargate SG-1, working through the series episode by episode beginning with the original pilot. Shanks plans to pair each installment with untold production stories, commentary, and conversations with the cast and crew who made the show. He said he wants to "be the first one of the original cast to do the Stargate rewatch podcast."
Shanks is teaming with longtime Stargate host and producer David Read, and the pair intend to line up guests for every episode of SG-1 — with the door open to extending into Atlantis and Universe if the project continues. The team is aiming to begin in mid-October, with the release cadence shaped in part by how much interest fans show.
The reveal lands amid the ongoing #SaveStargate effort, the fan-led push urging Amazon MGM to revive the Martin Gero-led series it halted before filming earlier this year.
