Amazon Tries Again: WandaVision Creator Jac Schaeffer Is Developing a New Stargate Series

Amazon MGM Studios has a new Stargate series in development, four months after it dropped Martin Gero's version. Variety reported exclusively on October 9 that Jac Schaeffer, the creator of Marvel's WandaVision and Agatha All Along, is developing the show under the overall deal she signed with Amazon MGM earlier this year. Deadline confirmed the report the same evening.

Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures will executive produce alongside Schaeffer. Deadline says a writers room has already opened in New York, while Variety's sources said a room was expected to open in the near future. Representatives for Amazon and Schaeffer declined to comment to Variety.

This is Amazon's second attempt at bringing Stargate back to television. Prime Video ordered a series from franchise veteran Martin Gero in November 2025, but in June 2026 it emerged that the project would not move forward. According to Deadline, that show had completed a 20-week writers room and was in pre-production in the UK when it was pulled.

Schaeffer's WandaVision was the first Marvel Cinematic Universe series to premiere on Disney+ and earned 23 Primetime Emmy nominations. She went on to create its spin-off Agatha All Along, which she also ran, wrote and directed. Neither report says anything yet about the new show's setting, cast, or how it relates to SG-1, Atlantis and Universe.
