Master Replicas Puts Destiny on Your Desk with a Stargate Universe XL Desk Mat
Master Replicas has opened pre-orders for a Stargate Universe desk mat built around the Ancient starship Destiny. The "Stargate Universe Destiny XL Desk Mat" is listed on the company's US store at $14.99, and the listing states that it is a pre-order "due to ship before the end of the year." French fan site Stargate-Fusion reported on the new listing on September 26.
According to Master Replicas' product description, the mat measures 31.25 by 11.5 inches (roughly 79 x 29 cm) — large enough to sit under both keyboard and mouse — and is printed edge to edge with a technical-blueprint rendering of Destiny in plan, profile and detail views. The ship is surrounded by dials, gauges, status blocks and Ancient numerals that the company says are "inspired by the control interfaces of Stargate Universe." The listing also specifies stitched edges and a non-slip rubber back.
It is a modest item, but a notable one for SGU fans: as Stargate-Fusion points out, it takes Master Replicas' Stargate range into a new product category beyond its ships, replicas and busts. Separately, the company's September community update, also dated September 26, repeated that its Goa'uld Tel'tak cargo ship model is "coming later this year," noting that 38% of respondents to its fan survey had asked for it.
