BlueBrixx Puts Atlantis on Shelves — and Teases a Puddle Jumper That Flies Through the Gate
German brick-model maker BlueBrixx has finally released its officially licensed Stargate Atlantis set — and used the launch video to show off the two prototypes Stargate fans have been asking for loudest. The Atlantis city set, product number 108747, is now listed as available in the BlueBrixx shop at €99.95, built from 2,049 pieces and measuring 350 x 350 x 320 mm. The model includes a display stand with a Stargate plaque and a miniature Daedalus docked at one of the piers.
The set had been listed as "coming soon" in the shop for more than five months after its first showing in February, a delay PC Games Hardware attributes partly to BlueBrixx's ongoing legal dispute with Lego and the range changes that followed. At roughly 4.9 cents per piece it is comparatively cheap for a licensed set, though the German site notes the model uses few printed elements — apparently only the Stargate-shaped plaque carries a print.
The bigger news for Pegasus fans came at the end of the accompanying YouTube video, where BlueBrixx presenters Ross and Oliver revealed two brightly coloured prototypes: a Puddle Jumper and a Pegasus-galaxy Stargate. According to Ross, the Jumper is the single most-requested set in the channel's YouTube comments. Like the ship in the series, the prototype's drive pods retract so it fits through the gate, and the gate's event horizon folds away so the Jumper can actually pass through it. Oliver stopped short of promising minifigures, but the seats are built to minifigure scale. The Pegasus gate is the first in that scale — an earlier mini version with two Wraith Darts was announced last year but is not currently listed in the shop — and it carries the stabilising thrusters of the orbital gates seen in the show rather than a planetary base.
No product numbers, piece counts, prices or release dates have been given for either prototype, and because both were shown in placeholder colours rather than final ones, a release is likely still some way off. BlueBrixx says a fuller product video will follow.
