Dean Devlin Speaks Out on Amazon's Stargate Cancellation: "The Fans Were Furious — and They Still Are"

Dean Devlin, who co-wrote and produced the original 1994 Stargate film and held an executive producer credit on Martin Gero's planned Prime Video series, has reflected on Amazon's surprise decision to cancel that series and start over, GateWorld reported on November 2.

Devlin's comments come from an interview with the Spanish outlet Fuera de Series, recorded at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, where he was promoting the new season of his series The Ark. The interview episode was published on October 17. Speaking about the fan response to the cancellation, Devlin said: "The fans were furious, and they still are."

GateWorld notes that the interview was recorded in early October, which means it predates Variety's report that WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer is now developing a new Stargate series for Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon dropped Gero's series in June, after it had been ordered in November 2025.
