The #SaveStargate Banner Heads to Paris Manga on October 3–4 as French Fans Set Up a Stargate Booth
The #SaveStargate campaign is getting a stand at one of Europe's biggest pop-culture conventions. French fan site Stargate-Fusion.com announced on September 19 that it will run a dedicated Stargate booth at the Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, in Hall 7 of the Parc des Expositions at Paris Nord Villepinte. The booth is being organised with content creator Marco Maldini, and the fan movement fighting to revive Martin Gero's cancelled Amazon series will have space on the stand for the whole weekend.
According to the announcement, visitors will find the #SaveStargate banner on the booth and will be able to sign it to show their support. The stand will also feature a photo area kitted out with Stargate-inspired props, including a P90, a zat'nik'tel and a ZPM, with a photographer on hand and the pictures shared afterwards via Facebook. Free giveaways such as cards, stickers, bracelets and badges are planned, and the organisers are inviting attendees to join their Discord server to coordinate fan meet-ups during the show.
No Stargate cast members are on the guest list this year; the convention's announced headliners include Christopher Lloyd, Tyler Hoechlin and Émilie de Ravin. The Paris appearance nonetheless keeps the campaign visible at a large in-person event, following its presence at San Diego Comic-Con, Dragon Con and other conventions this summer. Amazon MGM Studios halted Gero's series in June, and the campaign's endorsed Change.org petition, "Save Stargate with Martin Gero!", stood at just over 124,000 signatures at the time of writing.
The Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show runs from 9:30am to 7pm on the Saturday and 9:30am to 6pm on the Sunday, with tickets priced from €15. Details of the wider fan campaign are at savestargate.com.
