Stargate's Robert Patrick Is at London's ExCeL This Weekend

Robert Patrick — Colonel Marshall Sumner in the opening hours of Stargate Atlantis, and one of the loudest celebrity voices behind the #SaveStargate campaign — is in London this weekend. He is listed among the guests for For the Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi, the Monopoly Events show running Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August at ExCeL London.

Patrick is the only Stargate name on the announced line-up, which is otherwise heavy on fantasy and action franchises: John Cena, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Michael Biehn, John Cleese, Simon Pegg, Jason Isaacs, Hayley Atwell, Lena Headey, Billie Piper, Tom Welling and Erica Durance are all advertised. The event's official guest page lists Patrick at £60 for an autograph, payable on the day, and £70 plus booking fee for a photo op. Stargate-Project.de's convention entry, last updated 27 July, puts weekend entry from £53.90 for ages 10 and up, with single-day tickets from £29.70.

Patrick's presence carries a little extra weight for Stargate fans right now. Since Amazon MGM Studios halted Martin Gero's revival series in June, the campaign hub at savestargate.com has listed him under its "Voices for Stargate" section, citing a video he posted on 16 June greeting fans and backing the campaign — one of a run of endorsements from actors across all three series.

It also makes for a busy fortnight of Stargate activity in the UK: ExCeL this weekend, then Starfury's Ascension 2 at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham from 28 to 30 August. Neither event has announced Stargate-specific programming tied to the campaign, so treat this as a heads-up rather than a promise — if you want a Sumner autograph without a transatlantic flight, this is the weekend.
