Stargate Atlantis Is Now the No. 1 Show on MGM+ Worldwide — With SG-1 and Universe Right Behind It
Three months after Amazon MGM Studios shelved Martin Gero's new Stargate series, the franchise is having a moment on the studio's own streaming service. According to FlixPatrol data reported by Collider on September 8, Stargate Atlantis is currently the No. 1 series on MGM+ worldwide.
Atlantis took the top spot from The Westies, the Titus Welliver and J.K. Simmons crime drama that had held it for more than 45 consecutive days. It is not alone: Stargate Universe and Stargate SG-1 are both in the platform's top ten as well, putting all three live-action Stargate series among MGM+'s most-watched shows at once. MovieWeb separately reported the same Atlantis surge.
The timing is pointed. Amazon confirmed on June 2 that Gero's series — which had reached 20 weeks of pre-production — would not go forward, reportedly over concerns it would appeal mainly to the existing fanbase. The #SaveStargate campaign has been pushing back ever since, and a franchise sweep of a studio-owned streaming chart is the kind of audience signal it has been asking the studio to notice.
All three series remain available on MGM+ in the US, and the streaming numbers are a snapshot: FlixPatrol rankings change daily, so the picture may already look different by the time you read this.
